The incline push up is a simple modification to the regular pushup. On the incline push up you can simply place your hands on a box or a weight bench instead of the floor.

The incline push ups are slightly easier than regular push ups because the incline reduces the amount of body weight that you have to lift. The higher the surface, the more upright you are, the less body weight you have to lift.

To performe the incline push up:

  1. Start off with your hands on a weight bench or box.
  2. Your hands should be just slightly wider than your shoulders and inline with with your chest.
  3. Your arms should be straight to start.
  4. Your feet should be close together with straight legs.
  5. Squeeze your glutes and abs to keep your legs and back in a straight line.
  6. Your head should be inline with your body and it should stay in this position during the inclined push up.
  7. Lower your body until your chest nearly touches the weight bench or box and pause before pushing yourself back up to the starting position.
  8. Remember to keep your core tight during the incline push up.
